The indirect object is the noun or pronoun that
indicates the person (sometimes the thing) to or for whom
the action is done, e.g.

An indirect object is in the dative case.
It mainly occurs together with an accusative object.
Usually the indirect object is a person, whereas the direct object is
a thing.
