Nuts & Bolts of German: Present tense: One will do

Sie trinkt Kaffee.

She is drinking coffee. [It is happening right now.]

Sie trinkt Kaffee, aber nur mit Milch und Zucker.

She drinks coffee, but only with milk and sugar. [It is a habitual action.]

There is no "-ing form" in German, i.e. there is only present tense form in German, no matter whether you talk about something that is happening right now or a habitual action or a general truth.


Er Tennis.

He is playing tennis.

Er Tennis, aber nicht sehr gut.

He plays tennis, but not very well.

Sie Yoga.

She is doing yoga.

Sie oft Yoga.

She often does yoga.

Sie Deutsch.

She is learning German.

Sie Deutsch in der Schule.

She learns German in school.

Er .

He is working.

Er bei Siemens.

He works for Siemens.
