Nuts & Bolts of German: Plural forms: Test yourself (V)

German has several ways of forming the plural. The 5 basic plural endings are --, -e, -en, -er and -s. In some instances, the stem vowel of the noun also takes an umlaut. It is therefore advisable to learn a new noun together with its plural form.

But there are some guidelines for typical plural endings. In this exercise, you are supposed to figure out a guideline. Click on "Next" to see the singular form of a noun, then click on "Next" again to see the singular and the plural form of the noun.

Keep going. Pay attention to the gender of the nouns and their endings. Do you see a pattern emerging? Click here to see whether you worked out this guideline correctly.
