There is no standard definition of the number of continents but generally the numbers seven or six are used. When referring to six continents people might either combine North and South America or Europa and Asia since they are one solid land mass.

sieben Kontinente:  Afrika, Antarktis, Asien, Australien, Europa, Nordamerika, Südamerika

sechs Kontinente:    Version I:     Afrika, Amerika, Antarktis, Asien, Australien, Europa

                             Version II:   Afrika, Antarktis, Australien, Eurasien, Nordamerika und Südamerika
