Possessive
articles tell you who owns something, or what
something is related to, e.g.
Das ist
meine
Tasche. (This is
my
bag.)
Er liebt
seine
Katze.
(He loves his cat.)

All possessive
articles in the singular take the same endings as the
indefinite article, i.e. if ein does not have an
ending, they do not have either, if ein adds an
ending, they add the same one. In the plural they take
the same ending as kein-, e.g.
Das ist ein
iPhone.
|
→ |
Das ist mein
iPhone. |
Das ist eine
Digitalkamera.
|
→ |
Das ist seine

Note I: The -er of unser is part of the
root and not an ending, i.e. the endings are added to this
root, e.g.
Wir brauchen unseren Autoschlüssel. (We
need our
car-key.)
Note II: When euer has an ending, the -e- of
the root is dropped to facilitate pronunciation, e.g.
Das sind
eure Zimmer. (These are your rooms.)
Kann ich euren Fernseher haben? (Can I have your
TV-set?)
